August 2017 Stable Visit
What a weekend we all enjoyed at Trafford Bridge Stables in Banbury, the home of Alex Hales and his fantastic team. We now have all of our horses stabled with him. There's Dandilion, Shiroccodee, Golden Harbour, Tuscany Poppy and our 2 broodmares Caramelita & Gib who also has a little foal who Alex's children have nicknamed Toffee.
All of the horses looked amazing, really happy and seemed to of taken the recent move from down south really well.
Over 50 club members & shareholders where in attendance, they brought friends and family along for the day also, so all in all it was an amazing turnout and the biggest turnout we have had at a stable visit since we launched back in 2015.
We got to watch Dandilion & Golden Harbour have a gallop against each other and it was brilliant to see the difference in Golden Harbour since we moved him from Brian Barr to Alex Hales. At his previous yard he went backwards but he now seems to be enjoying himself and applying himself to the work he's asked to do. Earlier last week, we think he worked to around a 10lb better mark than what he has been running at for his previous trainer. When Golden Harbour arrived with Alex, he'd only just ran his last race for Brian 3 days earlier and Alex commented that he wasn't race fit, so the decision to move all of our horses to Alex seems to of been the correct decision based on what we have seen and the feedback we have been given.
Our members & shareholders were all treated to a lovely hog roast, which went down a real treat on the day.
We enjoyed Alex walking us around the yard, telling us a little about all of the horses he currently trains and that was something we all really enjoyed too.
There was the parade of all of our horses, as I've already said they looked brilliant and really happy in themselves.
We then set off to Northampton to our hotel, where 30 of us where staying for the night. We got changed and then headed into town to a local pub for some dinner and some drinks. We had an amazing day at the stables and night in Northampton where we spoke, laughed and drank until the early hours of Sunday morning.
From the whole club we would like to say a massive thanks to Alex Hales, Sally Burnell and all of the team at Trafford Bridge Stables for being such brilliant hosts and looking after us all and most importantly looking after our horses. I'm already looking forward to our next stable visit.
